Spoken Word offers meaningful activity which encourages and enables improved self-esteem, wellbeing and mental health. Miss Yankey’s workshops promote the therapeutic benefits of Spoken Word and creative writing; and provide valuable self-management tools. She believes that equipping people with the ability to express themselves in a healthy and creative way not only boosts confidence, but can also have a positive effect on their long term mental health and wellbeing.

Miss Yankey is a Spoken word Samurai who weaves words for a living, she has written and performed poetry all over the world. Passionate about bringing Spoken Word to new audiences, her words have travelled into all kinds of interesting spaces; TV, film, radio, theatre– her work can even be found in the Tower of London

Poetry and Platforms – On the infrastructural effects of social media on poetry as an aesthetic phenomenon by Camilla H. Soelseth (Norway)

The talk will be on what changes in distribution brings to the production, circulation and consumption of poetry, with specific focus on the case of instapoetry.

Camilla H. Soelseth is a researcher in media-influenced literary studies at Oslo Metropolitan University, Norway. She recently submitted her Ph.D. on the topic of instapoetry and the platformization of poetry. Her expertise concerns platforms and the socio-technological infrastructures of culture. She is the current leader of the research network DHKO in Norway, which is a research network for digital humanities and the organization of culture. She is also the festival secretary of Oslo International Poetry Festival.

Διδαχτήκαμε την αλφάβητο της μιζέριας και τη γραμματική της υποταγής. Από μικρή ηλικία, μάθαμε να βλέπουμε τον κόσμο με αυτό τον τρόπο. Αναγκαστήκαμε να υποτάσσουμε τα όνειρά μας, να μολύνουμε τις ελπίδες και την ψυχή μας. Δεχτήκαμε αδιαμαρτύρητα ότι ο χρόνος μας είναι κάτι που μπορεί να πουληθεί και να αγοραστεί, μας δίδαξαν πως η υπακοή θα σε οδηγήσει στο παράδεισο, μας μάθανε να μένουμε αδρανείς, και να καταναλώνουμε παθητικά σκουπίδια και αυταπάτες. Πουλάμε στα παζάρια των επιχειρήσεων την δημιουργία μας, τη σκέψη μας, το ίδιο μας το σώμα. Πιστέψαμε κάθε λέξη από τα γαμημένα ψέματά τους και σκύψαμε παθητικά το κεφάλι, παραδίνοντας τις ζωές μας στο φάντασμα της δουλειάς και τις ηλίθιες πλαστικές διασκεδάσεις. Κι αυτό σιγά-σιγά κατάπιε κάθε συστατικό της ζωής & των ονείρων μας, μέχρι που δεν έμεινε τίποτα για εμάς τους ίδιους. Η μηχανή που σκοτώνει τον πλανήτη κινείται με καύσιμο το δικό μας αίμα, τα τείχη που μας κρατούν φυλακισμένους είναι χτισμένα με τα δικά μας σώματα, οι εφιάλτες που υποβιβάζουν τη ζωή μας σε έναν διαρκή αγώνα επιβίωσης είναι κατασκευασμένοι από τα δικά μας όνειρα.

Αν αυτό είναι η πραγματικότητα, τότε ας χαθούμε στην φαντασία. Αν αυτό είναι το σωστό, τότε ας κάνουμε το λάθος. Αν αυτό είναι η πολιτική και η οικονομία τότε ας ετοιμάσουμε την κοινωνική επανάσταση, αν ο εφιάλτης που ζούμε είναι η πραγματικότητα- τότε, να καλλιεργήσουμε συλλογικά την ουτοπία. Να σκεφτούμε, να μιλήσουμε και να πράξουμε ενάντια στον τρόπο σκέψης και τις πράξεις των κυρίαρχων του κόσμου. Να φωτίσουμε το μέλλον μας με τις φωτιές της εξέγερσης, να αγαπήσουμε την ΖΩΗ, να μοιραστούμε την ΕΛΕΥΘΕΡΙΑ.

Tώρα περισσότερο από ποτέ- Να συναντηθούμε στα πάρκα και στις πλατείες, στους δρόμους και στις γωνίες, στα δάση και στις παραλίες, να απελευθερώσουμε κάθε σπιθαμή αληθινού εδάφους από το κράτος και την επιχειρηματική δραστηριότητα, να εκδιώξουμε από τον δημόσιο χώρο, τις πλατείες και τα πανεπιστήμια την αστυνομία και κάθε μορφή οργανωμένης επιτήρησης, να πολεμήσουμε τους φασίστες, τους σεξιστές, τους ρατσιστές και τους μαφιόζους , να ζήσουμε με νέα κριτήρια και άλλες προτεραιότητες, να διαδηλώσουμε τις ανεξέλεγκτες επιθυμίες μας, να οργανώσουμε τη συλλογική χαρά.

Τώρα περισσότερο από ποτέ- Να βιώσουμε στο δημόσιο χώρο τη φιλία, την αγάπη και το παιχνίδι, να γνωρίσουμε και να γνωριστούμε με τον ‘άλλο’, να στηρίξουμε τους αδύναμους, να επικοινωνήσουμε χωρίς διαμεσολαβήσεις, να πετάξουμε τα προσωπεία της προσποίησης, να μικρύνουμε τις αποστάσεις που μας χωρίζουν, να συμμαχήσουμε και να οργανώσουμε τις απαντήσεις που φοβίζουν τους κυβερνήτες, να δημιουργήσουμε, να ανακαλύψουμε και να ζήσουμε τη συνάφεια, στο όνομα της ενότητας, της κοινότητας που αγωνίζεται ενάντια σε όλους τους καταναγκασμούς και χτίζει το μέλλον που απειλεί τους ισχυρούς.

Τώρα περισσότερο από ποτέ – Να πάρουμε μέρος στις οριζόντιες κοινωνικές δομές, τα κινήματα πόλης και τις συνελεύσεις, να οικειοποιηθούμε τον δημόσιο χώρο και να τον υπερασπιστούμε ως δικό μας. Να αποτυπώσουμε σε αυτόν τα δικά μας νοήματα, να βιώσουμε τις σχέσεις της ισότητας και της αλληλεγγύης, να εξερευνήσουμε τις δυνατότητες ενός διαφορετικού μέλλοντος, να πλάσουμε αντιηγεμονικούς κόσμους με δικούς μας κανόνες, θεσμούς και τελετουργίες.

Ονειρευόμαστε και σχεδιάζουμε το τέλος της κυριαρχίας και την αρχή της ελευθερίας.

O Γιώργος Γκανέλης γεννήθηκε και μεγάλωσε στην Αθήνα. Σπούδασε Κλασική Φιλολογία στη Φιλοσοφική Σχολή του Πανεπιστημίου Ιωαννίνων. Είναι καθηγητής Φιλολογίας στη Δευτεροβάθμια Εκπαίδευση. Έχει εκδώσει τις ποιητικές συλλογές “Ανάπηροι δρομείς” (Στοχαστής, 2012), “Ο σκοπευτής της μνήμης” (Στοχαστής, 2013), “Χρεοκοπία ιδεών” (Στοχαστής, 2014), “Εκτός εαυτού” (Στοχαστής, 2015), “Υπό το μηδέν” (Στοχαστής, 2017) και “Ωδίνες της Ποίησης” (Στίξις, 2018). Συμμετέχει στα συλλογικά έργα “Το θέατρο στην ποίηση” (Momentum, 2017) και “Ανθολογία ποιητών 2015-2017″ (24 γράμματα, 2018). Επίσης ανθολογείται στο ”Ποιητικό Ημερολόγιο” των ετών 2013-2019. Πολλά ποιήματά του έχουν δημοσιευθεί σε ηλεκτρονικά περιοδικά.

To Video Poetry είναι ένα είδος της video art με πολύ μεγάλη ανάπτυξη τα τελευταία χρόνια όπου σκηνοθέτες και video artists συνεργάζονται με ποιητές και λογοτέχνες ώστε να παράγουν οπτική ποίηση, video art, βίντεο κολάζ, animations  και ποιήματα-ταινίες μικρού μήκους.

Το ετήσιο International Video Poetry Festival της Αθήνας προβάλλοντας μια κινηματογραφική ποιητική γλώσσα εξαιρετικής ποιότητας από την Αμερική, την Ασία, την Ευρώπη, την Αυστραλία και την Αφρική επιχειρεί να ενεργοποιήσει έναν ανοιχτό δημόσιο χώρο για τη δημιουργική έκφραση όλων των τάσεων και των ρευμάτων της σύγχρονης ποίησης.

Μέρος του μη-εμπορευματικού και μη-κερδοσκοπικού χαρακτήρα του φεστιβάλ είναι η ανοιχτή δωρεάν είσοδος σε όλους. Το φεστιβάλ δεν έχει χορηγούς ή χρηματοδοτήσεις και θα καλύψει τα έξοδα ενοικίασης υψηλής ποιότητας τεχνικού εξοπλισμού, φιλοξενίας των καλλιτεχνών από το εξωτερικό και διαφήμισης από τα έσοδα του bar του φεστιβάλ και την ελεύθερη συνεισφορά των θεατών.

Όλοι οι συμμετέχοντες καλλιτέχνες και οι οργανωτικές ομάδες θα πάρουν μέρος εθελοντικά και αφιλοκερδώς στο φεστιβάλ.

Spirals is a poetic journey that crosses geographical borders and unites European female voices in an exchange of languages, cultures, personal narratives and modes of expression. Through the symbol of the spiral, the project explores thresholds, migration, path, nature, home and sense of belonging; the spiral acts as a sign of becoming, transforming and awareness. Poems written by contemporary female poets, recorded material, music and movement are part of a series of performances, photography and video-work. Women create and walk on spirals in a variety of places, such as London, Broadstairs, Coventry, Barcelona, Athens and Belgrade.

PHOTOGRAPHY SHOW – In memory of Ren Hang

Το 7ο Διεθνές Φεστιβάλ Βιντεοποίησης αφιερώνεται στο φωτογράφο και ποιητή Ren Hang (1987–2017) έναν από τους πιο επιδραστικούς φωτογράφους της νέας γενιάς κινέζων καλλιτεχνών. Ο Ρεν Χάνγκ συνελήφθη στην Κίνα πολλές φορές για την τέχνη του η οποία χαρακτηρίζεται από έντονη, ηδονιστική σεξουαλικότητα και μια φωτογραφική ματιά εορτασμού των απολαύσεων. Παρά την παγκόσμια αναγνώριση δεν απέκτησε ποτέ κάποιου είδους αποδοχή στην χώρα του, κυρίως λόγω της απαγόρευσης των εκθέσεων του στο Πεκίνο και την υπόλοιπη Κίνα από το καθεστώς.

The 7th International Video Poetry Festival is dedicated to the photographer and poet ), one of the leading lights of the new generation of Chinese photographers. Ren Hang was arrested many times for his sexually explicit, joyously celebratory photography. Although he was globally renowned, he never gained the recognition he deserved in his home country, in part because he was repeatedly denied the opportunity to display his work in Beijing and throughout China. Read more about Ren Hang.

The yearly International Video Poetry Festival 2018 will be held for seventh time in Athens / Greece. Approximately 1200 people attended the festival last year.

The 7th International Video Poetry Festival will run for two days in two different zones. The first day will be the Show Room Video Poetry. An unique zone that will include video poems, visual poems, short film poems and cinematic poetry by artists from all over the world (America, Asia, Europe, Africa). The second day will be the Live Improvisation Zone with multimedia poetry reading, concerts with experimental music and performances.

We are inviting the artists – poets, video artists, performers, directors, producers – who want to visit the festival to present their art project at the Theatre. We can provide to them accommodation for 3 days (one day before the festival, during the festival and one day afterwards).

The International Video Poetry Festival 2018 attempts to create an open public space for the creative expression of all tendencies and streams of contemporary visual poetry.

It is very important to notice that this festival is a part of the counter-culture activities of Void Network and + the Institute [for Experimental Arts] and will be non-sponsored, free entrance, non commercial and nonprofit event. The festival will cover the costs (2000 posters, 15.000 flyers, high quality technical equipment) from the incomes of the bar of the festival. All the participating artists and the organizing groups will participate voluntary to the festival.

The Institute [for Experimental Arts] invites the artists and creators of video poems to participate from their side in our effort to cover the expenses of the festival without private or state sponsorship. For this reason we propose to the artists the suggested donation of 5 euro for the submission of their video poems.

The participation is free and each artist can send more than one work ( 1 to 3 video poems for free). You can add the suggested donation of 5 euro (or more) to the following bank account

Void Network started organizing multi media poetry nights in 1990. Void Network and +the Institute [for Experimental Arts] believe that multi media Poetry Nights and Video Poetry shows can vibrate in the heart of Metropolis, bring new audiences in contact with contemporary poetry and open new creative dimensions for this ancient art. To achieve this, we respect the aspirations and the objectives of the artists, create high quality self organized exhibition areas and show rooms, we work with professional technicians and we offer meeting points and fields of expression for artists and people that tend to stand antagonistically to the mainstream culture.

The 7th International Video Poetry Festival is dedicated to the Chinese radical poet and photographer Ren Hang, one of the leading lights of the new generation of Chinese photographers. Ren Hang was arrested many times for his sexually explicit, joyously celebratory photography. Although he was globally renowned, he never gained the recognition he deserved in his home country, in part because he was repeatedly denied the opportunity to display his work in Beijing and throughout China.

SENSUAL LUMINA Πασχάλης Χατζητρύφωνας. Μαρία Στεφανίδου  SENSUAL LUMINA είναι μηχανή. Δημιουργήθηκε για να προσφέρει διασκέδαση, απόλαυση, ικανοποίηση. Σχεδιάστηκε για να προσαρμόζεται στις εξατομικευμένες ανάγκες του κατόχου της, επιδεικνύοντας “έξυπνη”λειτουργικότητα και ικανότητα μάθησης κατά τη διάρκεια χρήσης της. Διαθέτει πέντε προγράμματα λειτουργιών, που εναλλάσσονται εύκολα χάρη στον εργονομικό σχεδιασμό της. Μπορεί να χρησιμοποιηθεί ατομικά από ένα χρήστη ή συλλογικά από ομάδα περισσότερων χρηστών. H performance χρησιμοποιεί το ένδυμα SensoLumina* ως μέσο για να αναφερθεί στην αντικειμενοποίηση των θυμάτων trafficking που μεταβάλλονται σε εργαλεία σεξουαλικής ικανοποίησης. Η έκπτωση από την ανθρώπινη υπόσταση οδηγεί σε εξίσωση με έξυπνα τεχνολογικά προϊόντα, σχεδιασμένα κατ’ εικόνα των χρηστών τους, που όμως δεν υπερβαίνουν το σκοπό της χρήσης τους.

Το Non Sequitur (σημ. ‘χωρίς λογικό ειρμό’) είναι ένα video installation που αφηγείται ένα οικογενειακό πορτρέτο μέσω διαδοχικών επαναλαμβανόμενων διαλόγων που προέρχονται από τηλεφωνικές συνομιλίες μεταξύ του καλλιτέχνη και των γονέων του, που ζουν σε διαφορετικές χώρες για περισσότερο απο 20 χρόνια.  Κάθε σειρά βίντεο έχει καταγραφεί σε διαφορετικό χρόνο και χώρο πριν τοποθετηθεί το ένα δίπλα στο άλλο για να παράγει μια αναρίθμητη σειρά απρόβλεπτων και χωρίς ειρμό διαλόγων με τήν βοήθεια μίας βιντεογεννήτριας (video generator engine). 
Το Non Sequitur εξερευνά την δυναμική των οικογενιακών σχέσεων ενώ παράλληλα αμφισβητεί έννοιες της ανθρώπινης σύνδεσης μέσω της λεκτικής επικοινωνίας, αποκαλύπτοντας τόσο την ανεπάρκεια των λέξεων όσο και την βαθύτητα των τετριμμένων.
ARTIST STATEMENT
‘Living abroad for the past 20 years, communication with my family has been limited to brief occasional telephone conversations.
Over the years, these conversations have become an automatic  sequence of short, repetitive sentences exchanged between us, which make us feel safe in their familiarity. And yet these dialogues, and the spaces between them, often convey thoughts and emotions that the distance hasn’t allowed to unravel, mature and resolve.
Instead they repeat continuously, imprisoned in an infinite void of the machine that keeps them connected.’

Born in June 2015 Open Night Cinema is a live cinematic entity that lives, breathes and sleeps throughout the industrial landscapes of Dublin City, Ireland. ONC primarily feeds on improvised live art events blurring the lines between cinematic exhibitions, musical and theatrical performance and art installation. These events are intended to rupture and transform the space outside the projected frame, breathing new life into the cinematic experience.

International Video Poetry Festival Fr.19 + Sat.20/1/2018 Theater EMBROS -Athens

Το ετήσιο Διεθνές Φεστιβάλ Βίντεο Ποίησης θα διεξαχθεί για έκτη φορά στην Αθήνα την Παρασκευή 19 και το Σάββατο 20/1/2018.
Στο σύνολο τους, περισσότερα από 2500 άτομα παρακολούθησαν το φεστιβάλ τα προηγούμενα χρόνια.

Το διήμερο φεστιβάλ περιλαμβάνει προβολές 67 βιντεο-ποιημάτων, ένα είδος της video art με πολύ μεγάλη ανάπτυξη τα τελευταία χρόνια όπου σκηνοθέτες και video artists συνεργάζονται με ποιητές και λογοτέχνες ώστε να παράγουν οπτική ποίηση, video art, βίντεο κολάζ, animations και ποιήματα-ταινίες μικρού μήκους. Το ετήσιο International Video Poetry Festival της Αθήνας προβάλλοντας μια κινηματογραφική ποιητική γλώσσα εξαιρετικής ποιότητας από την Αμερική, την Ασία, την Ευρώπη, την Αυστραλία και την Αφρική έχει καταξιωθεί ανάμεσα στα σημαντικότερα φεστιβάλ του συγκεκριμένου είδους στον κόσμο.

Προσκεκλημένοι από διάφορες χώρες (Ιρλανδία, Ρωσία, Γερμανία, Μεγάλη Βρετανία) θα επισκεφθούν το φετινό φεστιβάλ για να παρουσιάσουν τα έργα τέχνης τους στο Θέατρο Εμπρός. Αναγνωρισμένοι καλλιτέχνες – ποιητές, video artists, performers, χορευτές, σκηνοθέτες, παραγωγοί και μουσικά σχήματα. Επίσης το φεστιβάλ περιλαμβάνει μια ολόκληρη μέρα παρουσίασης της εγχώριας νέας γενιάς ποιητών σε ζωντανούς αυτοσχεδιασμούς με video artists και μουσικούς, μια σειρά από performances, όπως επίσης μια έκθεση βιβλίου και δύο διήμερες βίντεο εγκαταστάσεις από την Ιρλανδική ομάδα Open Night Cinema και τον Κώστα Παπακώστα.

Το Διεθνές Φεστιβάλ Βίντεο Ποίησης 2017 επιχειρεί να δημιουργήσει έναν ανοιχτό δημόσιο χώρο για τη δημιουργική έκφραση όλων των τάσεων και των ρευμάτων της σύγχρονης οπτικής ποίησης.

Είναι πολύ σημαντικό να παρατηρήσετε ότι αυτό το φεστιβάλ είναι μέρος των ευρύτερων καλλιτεχνικών δραστηριοτήτων του Ινστιτούτου Πειραματικών Τεχνών, της συλλογικότητας Κενό Δίκτυο και του Ελεύθερου Αυτοδιαχειριζόμενου Θεάτρου Εμπρός. Μέρος του μη εμπορευματικού και μη κερδοσκοπικού χαρακτήρα του φεστιβάλ είναι η ανοιχτή δωρεάν είσοδος σε όλους. Το φεστιβάλ δεν έχει χορηγούς ή χρηματοδοτήσεις και θα καλύψει τα έξοδα ενοικίασης υψηλής ποιότητας τεχνικού εξοπλισμού, φιλοξενίας των καλλιτεχνών από το εξωτερικό και διαφήμισης από τα έσοδα του bar του φεστιβάλ και την ελεύθερη συνεισφορά των θεατών. Όλοι οι συμμετέχοντες καλλιτέχνες και οι οργανωτικές ομάδες θα συμμετέχουν εθελοντικά και αφιλοκερδώς στο φεστιβάλ.

Το Κενό Δίκτυο ξεκίνησε να διοργανώνει multi media βραδιές ποίησης το 1990. Το Ινστιτούτο Πειραματικών Τεχνών και το Κενό Δίκτυο θεωρούν ότι οι εκδηλώσεις ποίησης και βιντεοποίησης μπορούν να επιδρούν στην καρδιά της Μητρόπολης φέρνοντας νέα ακροατήρια σε επαφή με τη σύγχρονη ποίηση και ανοίγοντας νέες δημιουργικές διαστάσεις για αυτήν την αρχαία τέχνη. Για να το πετύχουμε αυτό, σεβόμαστε και ενδυναμώνουμε τις φιλοδοξίες και τους στόχους των καλλιτεχνών, δημιουργούμε υψηλής ποιότητας εκθεσιακούς χώρους παρουσίασης των εκδηλώσεων, διοργανώνουμε εκδηλώσεις στον δημόσιο χώρο, συνεργαζόμαστε με επαγγελματίες τεχνικούς και προσφέρουμε σημεία συνάντησης και πεδία έκφρασης για καλλιτέχνες και ανθρώπους που τείνουν να υπερβούν την μαζική κουλτούρα και την βιομηχανία της Τέχνης.

Θα θέλαμε να ευχαριστήσουμε τον Dave Bonta από το Moving Poems (http://movingpoems.org/), ένα παγκόσμιο site παρουσίασης των σημαντικότερων βιντεοποιήματων της εποχής μας στο διαδίκτυο, ο οποίος με το έργο τους μας ενέπνευσε να δημιουργήσουμε το Διεθνές Φεστιβάλ Βίντεο Ποίησης στην Αθήνα και με τον οποίο συνεργαζόμαστε από το 2012 για να διαδώσουμε το Φεστιβάλ και να έρθουμε σε επαφή με τους καλλιτέχνες από όλο τον κόσμο.
