Culiacan is the state captital of Sinaloa, home base of the feared Sinaloa cartel that is involved in a bloody power struggle with the Juarez Cartel about lucrative smuggling routes.
The hands and mouth of the murder victim were taped with duct tape.
The victim was most probably involved in narco trafficking.
In the month of June 2009, aproximately 3 people a day were killed in Culiacan.
